Colorado Avalanche GM Greg Sherman made two minor deals on April 3rd sending NHL defensemen Ryan O’Bryne to the leafs and Cameron Gaunce to the Dallas Stars.

O’Byrne will join former Avalanche defensemen John Michael Liles, who was traded to Toronto last year.

“We’ve got a bond on and off the ice, we’ve got some good chemistry. He’s a great guy and I’m happy to be joining up with him.” O’Byrne said after reporting to Toronto.

As compensation, the Avs received a fourth round draft pick in the 2014 draft.  O’Byrne’s contract was expiring this year.

Sherman continued his draft day exchanges by sending rookie prospect Cameron Gaunce to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Tomas Vincour.  Vincour started his NHL season in 2010 after being called up from the Texas Stars, the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.  Tomas has 3 points in fifteen NHL games this year.  Vincour was sent down to the Lake Erie Monsters for the rest of the season, and it remains to be seen whether he will make an NHL appearance in Colorado.  Vincour has played in two AHL games this season netting three goals and one assist.  Tomas was drafted in the 5th round.

Also to note, rookies Brad Malone and Patrick Bordeleau both scored their first NHL goals, tip ins from offensive defensemen rookies Stefan Elliot and Tyson Barrie, respectively.  Brad Malone scored against the Flames and Bordeleau scored a game tying goal against the LA Kings.

The Avalanche have collected 3 of 4 potential points in their last two games, losing to the Kings in a shootout.
