Gabriel Landeskog Nets Game-Winning Goal In Overtime To Lift Colorado Avalanche Over The Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2

The Colorado Avalanche (48-21-6, 102 points) earned two points Tuesday night in overtime after defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road, 3-2. Captain Gabriel Landeskog saved the day as he took a shot that appeared to deflect off of the Blue Jackets defender and into the net for his second goal of the game. Colorado started the game out slow as Columbus took advantage in the second period.

Cam Atkinson would strike for his 20th goal of the season during the halfway point in the second on the assist from Brandon Dubinsky to put the Blue Jackets up 1-0. Five minutes later, Blake Comeau would join in on the scoring, collecting his 4th goal of the season on the assists from Nick Foligno and Fedor Tyutin to stretch Columbus’s lead to a two goal lead. Colorado would answer back in the third period as call-up Brad Malone connected on his second goal of the season on the feeds from Marc-Andre Cliche and Nick Holden to bring the Avalanche to within one.

With less than five minutes remaining in play, Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog would net his 25th goal of the season on the assists from Paul Stastny and Nathan MacKinnon to tie the game up at two apiece. The game would remain scoreless as both teams earned a point as it went into overtime. Time was winding down with 33 seconds remaining, Gabriel Landeskog took a shot that appeared to deflect off of a Blue Jackets defenseman that trickled into the net for the overtime win. Landeskog would pick up his second goal of the game and his 26th of the season on the assists from Tyson Barrie and Nathan MacKinnon.

The Colorado Avalanche (48-21-6, 102 pts) return back to action Thursday night at home as they will host the New York Rangers. Puck-drop is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET, 7:00 PM MT.
