Justin Morneau has been a key free agent pickup for the Rockies. Many questioned bringing in an injury-prone player who hasn’t played up to the level he has been capable of. Morneau would win the honors thanks in large part to his game Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies. Morneau would go 2-for-4 from the plate, with a two-run home run, collecting five run’s batted in, in the losing effort. Morneau would go 9-for-24 during the week, collecting three home runs and twelve runs batted in while batting .375 with a slugging percentage of .875.

Kevin Kouzmanoff on the other hand won the honors for the AL.

The once former top prospect has been picking up the slack in the Texas Rangers offense. He would bat 10-for-29, collecting four doubles, eight runs batted in, while batting .345 with a slugging percentage of .690. The 32-year-old has surprised, batting 15-for-41 this season in 11 games. He has collected five doubles, two home runs, nine runs batted in, while hitting at a line of .366/.409/.634.

It was a good day for Colorado considering Justin Morneau picked up the NL honors and former Colorado prep. star Kevin Kouzmanoff picked up the AL honors.
