The Colorado Rockies received a nice boost from rookie southpaw Tyler Matzek last night who earned his first Major League victory en route to a Rockies win, 8-2. Colorado looks to ride that momentum and salvage a series split with the Atlanta Braves.

Pitching Matchup:

ATL: Ervin Santana: (5-2, 3.69 ERA)
COL: Jhoulys Chacin: (0-4, 5.35 ERA)

Jhoulys Chacin will look to get the Rockies back rollin’ and is still searching for his first victory of the 2014 campaign. Chacin has not given up more than four earned in seven starts this season but has failed to get past the sixth inning due to pitch count. In his last outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 7th, Chacin gave up three runs on six hits, walking three and striking out four over a span of six innings.

Ervin Santana will take the hill and looks to give the Atlanta Braves a four-game series win. Santana was a solid offseason pick up for the Braves, collecting a record of 5-2 with an ERA of 3.69 in 11 starts this season. In his last appearance against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 7th, Santana gave up one run (unearned) through seven strong innings while surrendering six hits and striking out one but earned the no-decision.

Rockies Lineup:
