After last nights loss to the San Diego Padres, the Colorado Rockies found themselves at the bottom of Major League Baseball with the Houston Astros. Colorado has lost 18 of their last 21 and this season went from bad to worse real quick. Colorado takes on the Padres in-game two of a three-game set tonight at Coors.

Pitching Matchup:

SD: Tyson Ross (7-8, 2.93 ERA)
COL: Franklin Morales (4-4, 5.51 ERA)

More from Colorado Rockies

Tyson Ross aims to give the Padres a series victory as he is coming off his best outing this season and perhaps his career. The 27-year-old baffled the Cincinnati Reds, throwing a complete game, three-hitter as he picked up his 7th win of the season, lowering his ERA to 2.93. Ross would record nine strikeouts on the night as he didn’t issue a single walk. Tyson has only allowed four earned runs in his past three starts, compiling 23.0 innings.

Franklin Morales was moved into Jhoulys Chacin‘s spot in the rotation as the righty went down with right shoulder inflammation which bothered him during Spring Training. Morales pitched well in his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers but ran into some pitch count issues. Morales gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits through five innings, walking two and striking out four. It will be interesting to see how Morales pitches against a Padres lineup that lacks firepower.
