The Colorado Rockies nearly pulled off a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates this past weekend, but the usual happened. The bullpen combined with some sloppy baserunning mishaps resulted in a 7-5 loss. The Rockies did however win two out of three as they put together a three-game winning streak prior to Sunday’s loss. Starting Monday night, the Colorado Rockies open up a four-game set with the Chicago Cubs.

Pitching Matchup:

COL: Yohan Flande (0-2, 7.20 ERA)
CHC: Tsuyoshi Wada (0-1, 5.00 ERA)

Yohan Flande will be making his fifth Major League start for the Colorado Rockies Monday night and hasn’t had any success to say the least. In all four games started by Flande, the Rockies are 0-4. During his last time out, Flande gave up four runs on five hits, walking two as he failed to strike anyone out. Flande lasted just 5.1 innings as he has yet to reach six innings pitched. The Washington Nationals went on to win the game, 7-4.

Tsuyoshi Wada will be making his third Major League start as the 33-year-old out of Japan has yet to collect a victory. In his two starts this season, the southpaw is 0-1 as the Cubs fell in both games. In his last start against the San Diego Padres, he gave up five runs on five hits, walking four and striking out four. Wada was pulled after four innings, reaching 87 pitches as he picked up his first Major League loss.
