The Denver Broncos enter the 2014-2015 season with a heap of expectation.  The largest concern of the team however is if they can keep two staples of the record-breaking offense in Julius Thomas and Demaryius Thomas.  These two players are coming into their own and being widely considered as one of the best in the game at their respective  position.  The bad thing, however is can the Broncos keep both these players given that both of their contracts are up at the end of the year.

It can be done, but it’s risky.  John Elway has gone all in for the Broncos and the expiring contracts this year include Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Terrance Knighton, Chris Harris, and many more.   There is no question in my mind that Demaryius Thomas is a top five receiver in the league, and he deserves to be paid as much.  The question lies with the other Thomas.

More from Denver Broncos

Julius Thomas is emerging to be a top ten tight end in this league and there is no doubt that teams will be looking around for that franchise TE, and that is Julius.  The Broncos will have  a good amount of salary cap to play with at the end of the year with so many contracts expiring, so Julius should get top TE money.  The potential problem that lies here is if Julius is going to try to do a Jimmy Graham and attempt to classify himself as a WR and attempt to get top WR money, which is around $10 Million a year as opposed to top TE money which is around $7 Million dollars a year.

Demaryius Thomas is going to get paid.  It’s more than likely to come after the Super Bowl as we are little over a week away from the opening game of the season, it makes sense to do negotiations after the season so that it doesn’t distract the player or the team.   The question is Julius.  You should fully expect that both Thomas’ will be back in Denver because Julius isn’t the kind of guy to try to change his position just to get more money.  Both players should get max extensions and be Broncos for life.
