Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended four games by the NFL for testing positive for amphetamines, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.  This comes as news since Welker’s start of the season was already in doubt due to a concussion he received in the preseason, but now he gets a forced break to heal up due to the suspension.

According to reports, Welker took what’s called “Molly” at the Kentucky Derby, and was probably tested after that and then the suspension was handed down today after Welker’s party knew about the tests, appealed against it, but it was denied and the suspension was upheld.

So how do the Broncos respond without Welker? Well if you read my article  which talked about how the Broncos play on without Welker, then you know exactly how they are going to do this.  Expect to see Emmanuel Sanders in the slot, and a lot of Andre Caldwell/Cody Latimer outside.   Will this hurt the Broncos’ offense?  Short answer: No.  They’re the best offense in the league still without him, and will be better when he returns.  It hurts, but not as much as most might think.

Due to the Broncos having a bye week in week four, Welker will return week six when the Broncos take on the Jets in New York.
