The Denver Nuggets and their players have been no stranger to saying how they feel about their team. Shortly after Arron Afflalo rejoined the Denver Nuggets this past offseason, Afflalo stated that the Nuggets’ are “title contenders.” Now, leader and point guard Ty Lawson weighed in on the potential of his team this season.

Lawson, 26, told Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post that he views the Denver Nuggets as a playoff team. Not only did Lawson say that, he believes Denver will finish top four in the Western Conference. That’s a lot of confidence shown by Denver’s veteran point guard for a team that has to prove something this season. Here’s what Lawson added on.

"“If everybody stays healthy and we’re all playing together, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be in a playoff run or in the playoffs this season. … Nobody thought we were going to be a top-four team the year we won 57 games. So I think the sky’s the limit for us as long as we’re playing well and everybody is focused.”"

Lawson definitely makes a compelling quote when he says no one believed the team [Nuggets] two years ago would win 57 games. Personally, I’ve mention in a column that the Nuggets have perhaps the deepest team in the entire league. With players such as Ty Lawson, Arron Afflalo, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, Timofey Mozgov, JaVale McGee, Nate Robinson, and the list goes on, how could you not label them as a playoff team.

More from Denver Nuggets

Pending health, this team should be REALLY good. Speaking of Kenneth Faried, the Nuggets agreed to an extension with the ‘Manimal’ Sunday night, extending the forward to a five-year deal worth $60 million.

The Western Conference is loaded with teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trailblazers, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks — heck, even the Phoenix Suns. It will be a tough task to finish top four, but I like confidence shown from Lawson and Afflalo.
