In a bizarre time slot, the Colorado Avalanche will take on the Boston Bruins Monday afternoon at 1:oo PM EST, 11:00 PM MST for you Colorado fork. The real question is however, will Colorado get their first win of the 2014-15′ season?

So far in two games, Colorado has been manhandled by the Minnesota Wild, going 0-2 in that span. For as much disappointment that serves, Colorado has yet to record a goal, which is eye-popping for a team that possesses the talents of Nathan MacKinnon, Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan O’Reilly, Jarome Iginia, and the list goes on.

The Boston Bruins to this date have been one of the better teams in the league. They too like Colorado, are off to a slow start with a 1-2 record. Good news for Colorado is that they’re a perfect 6-0 in their last six games in Boston. Colorado must be careful however as they face being shutout for the third consecutive game; has never happened in franchise history.

Besides the blue line, Colorado has been horrific on the power-play thus far. They have been on the power-play seven times in two games against Minnesota, not recording a single goal (0-for-7). Colorado had a knack for the power-play heroics last season, finishing fifth in the entire league converting 19.8% percent of the time.

Avs’ goalie Semyon Varlamov has looked extremely solid in his games but his stats don’t show it due to the lack of help defensively. Varly currently supports a record of 0-2-0 with a 4.32 GAA and a save percentage of .901. In his last game against Minnesota Saturday night, he stopped 33-of-35 shots.

The Colorado Avalanche could really use a break Monday afternoon, doing it against one of the top teams in the east. Puck-drop between the Avs’ and Bruins is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST at TD Garden.
