NHL Preview – Game 19: Colorado Avalanche vs. New Jersey Devils

The Colorado Avalanche conclude their four-game Eastern Conference road trip Saturday night, taking on the New Jersey Devils. Colorado is currently 1-2-0 on this trip, looking to even it out with a potential win vs. New Jersey – hopefully.

Colorado is coming off a much-needed win Thursday night as they defeated the New York Rangers in a shootout, 4-3. Alex Tanguay had himself quite the game, recording his seventh goal of the season as he notched a second period goal. Tanguay also scored the game-winning shot in overtime to push Colorado to their fifth victory of the 2014-15′ season.

Matt Duchene earned first star honors as the centerman collected his fifth goal of the season. Duchene picked up another point in the second period, assisting on Tanguay’s goal. Nathan MacKinnon also joined in on the scoring action, scoring his fifth goal of the season as well – his shot deflecting in off a defender.

New Jersey is coming off a home win against the Minnesota Wild this past Tuesday night, collecting the 3-1 victory. Goaltender Cory Schneider came away with the first star honors, saving 22-of-23 shots en route to his seventh victory this season. Veteran winger Jaromir Jagr collected two points in the victory, assisting on goals from Mike Cammalleri and Travis Zajac (power-play).

Back to Tanguay, the Avs’ could have used the veteran winger in the playoffs last season. The crafty vet continues to provide results night-in and night-out for Colorado. In 18 games played this season, Tanguay has recorded 10 points over that span (7 goals, 3 assists).
