Denver Broncos: Is Ndamukong Suh a realistic free-agent option?

The Denver Broncos have had a busy week thus far, bringing back former quarterback and offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak as their new head coach, replacing John Fox. Denver also has decisions to make this offseason regarding player personnel. Key players such as Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, and Terrance Knighton will be free-agents. However, Denver reportedly will franchise tag Demaryius Thomas, letting Julius Thomas and Terrance Knighton test the free-agent market.

Denver will have a tight budget this offseason, that’s if Peyton Manning passes his physical. Denver will reportedly pay Peyton $19 million next season at the age of 39. That’s a lot, so the budget will definitely be squeezed. Manning will have until March 9th to let the Broncos know whether he will hang up the cleats or give it a go for one more year.

Moving on. Denver solidified their defense last offseason, signing big name free-agents such as Aqib Talib, T.J. Ward, and DeMarcus Ware – all three made the Pro Bowl. Not to mention cornerback Chris Harris made the Pro Bowl as well, signing an extension prior to the playoffs. John Elway has a good eye for talent, so the question is asked: is Ndamukong Suh a realistic free-agent target?

Well, yes and no. Yes because Suh is one of the better defensive tackles in the game and has an added toughness which Denver clearly lacks. No due to his shenanigans – kicking and stomping player(s). If Denver is able to clear some cap room to take a run at Suh, would you like to see it happen? I know I would. Denver, like I mentioned earlier in this paragraph, lacks toughness. Sure they have All-Pro caliber players, but they need a fire lit under them. That’s one of the reasons why Denver parted ways with John Fox. Suh is a player who has a mean streak, an edge if you will. If Denver could somehow manage their budget wisely, I’d definitely like to see Suh in orange and blue.
