Von Miller received $8,681 fine from NFL for his late hit on Patriots’ QB Tom Brady.

In last Sunday’s win against the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was called for a roughing the passer penalty against Tom Brady. Vance Walker sacked Brady on a second-down play at the Patriots’ own 21-yard line. After Walker sacked Brady, Von Miller decided to add a hit of his own, jumping over Walker and landing on Brady.

Von Miller received a 15-yard penalty for his actions, and the NFL reviewed the penalty and decided to fine him $8,681. Normally, a roughing the passer penalty carries a fine of $17,363, so Von Miller received half as much for his hit. Von Miller stated that he plans to appeal the fine, but he believes that the NFL will uphold it. Despite the fine, Miller will play this weekend against the San Diego Chargers and will receive no further punishment for his actions.

In 11 games this season, Von Miller registered seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Moreover, Miller posted 19 solo tackles, five assists, and 24 combined tackles. Von Miller continues to demonstrate why he is considered one of the best linebackers in the NFL. The Denver Broncos’ former first round pick hopes to stuff the stat sheet this upcoming week against the San Diego Chargers’ poor offensive line.

Look for Von Miller to be a force this Sunday against the Chargers. The Denver Broncos gained a lot of confidence after their walk-off win against the Patriots, so hopefully, they build off that momentum moving forward.
