The Colorado Avalanche will make nine national television appearances in the upcoming season, according to a new broadcast schedule released by NBC Sports today.

Eight of the games will run on the NBC Sports Network and one is slated for the larger platform of the NBC broadcast network.

The Avs will begin their national slate on Wednesday, Dec. 14, as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at the Pepsi Center.

Colorado will play the Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks twice each on NBCSN cable broadcasts.

Other nationally televised games for the team include contests against the Western Conference Champion San Jose Sharks, the Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings.

Two of the Avalanche’s contests will be Wednesday Nightcap matches, following NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry broadcasts.

The Avalanche were featured in 12 nationally televised games during the 2015-2016 season, so this represents a slight decline in the team’s exposure.

It should be emphasized that above schedule simply reflects the games that will air nationally, and most Avalanche games will air on Stan Kroenke’s regional sports network Altitude TV.
