Nolan Arenado opening eyes in Spring Training

I haven’t followed the Rockies Spring Training all that much, but one player has specifically stood out to me when I check up on them.

Nolan Arenado.

The young third basemen has possibly been the best hitter this Spring Training for the Rockies, and he could possibly be making the team. Arenado has four home runs and eleven RBIs, along with a .314 batting average. He has been given looks by the management, as he has the second most at-bats thus far.

With the third base position being the weakest one on the Rockies, anything is possible. Chris Nelson is currently the starter, but there were rumors that the Rockies were looking to trade him. Arenado may be a reason why. He’s impressed everyone this Spring and might beat out Jonathan Herrera for one of the spots on the team. Herrera has struggled this Spring so far.

At this point, making the team is all Arenado should be shooting for. A starting position at third base would just make everything that much better. He’s only 21-years old, so it isn’t a big deal if he’s optioned at some point in the next week, but for now, keep your eyes on Arenado’s status.
