Drew Pomeranz odd man out; sent to Triple-A

After the Jon Garland pick up this Sunday, the Rockies were forced to either send a player down, or send him to the bullpen. Drew Pomeranz was the odd man out, and will start the season in Triple-A.

Pomeranz was 2-2 with a 5.50 ERA this Spring, and the team saw improvements in him. He has the build to be a power pitcher, but that will have to wait for now.

I mentioned earlier that I am a Pomeranz fan, and was hoping he would hold his spot in the rotation. I’m sure he’ll be up at some point later on in the year though. Whether it’s an injury, spot-start, or Septemember call up, he’ll be on the Rockies roster, making starts, at some point this year.

Garland is currently slotted at the five spot in the rotation, which I disagree with. He’s better than Jeff Francis and Juan Nicasio. Once again, Garland could be a bust and released at some point, but he definitely deserves to be slotted higher in the rotation.
