Report: Rockies swap Ramon Hernandez with Dodgers for Aaron Harang
By Drew Brown
It didn’t take too long for the word to get out, but Aaron Harang will be the pitcher that the Rox will be getting in return for Ramon Hernandez.
Good deal!
I actually like this one a lot. I’ve said more than enough times that the Dodgers trading the Rockies a starting pitcher for Hernandez made way too much sense, and they finally followed through with it.
Chris Capuano would have been nice, but you can’t complain about getting Harang for a backup catcher who will only play 60% of the games.
Harang isn’t a great pitcher, and is certainly past his prime. He has won double digit games six times in his career, and won ten with the Dodgers in 2012. He could be a nice upgrade to a mediocre rotation, but as I was writing this, I read a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Rosenthal confirmed the Hernandez for Harang swap, but said that the Rockies are not planning on keeping Harang.
