Semyon Varlamov will start in net Thursday night against the Edmonton Oilers. He would have a slight injury in the shootout win over the Minnesota Wild saturday night, 3-2. This coming from Adrian Dater of the Denver Post:

"Avs coach Patrick Roy said Varlamov slightly tweaked his groin in Saturday’s win over the Minnesota Wild, and trainers felt it best for him to take Tuesday off. Varlamov will start Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, however."

Good news about forward Alex Tanguay as he is expected to be back on the ice Wednesday for practice, but will not likely play on the teams upcoming three-game road trip. He has been out since November 2nd with a knee injury.

"Neither Semyon Varlamov nor Alex Tanguay was on the practice ice for the Avalanche on Tuesday, but Avs fans should not fear. Both are expected back on skates Wednesday and, in Varlamov’s case, to play Thursday in Edmonton."

Jean-Sebastien Giguere will start in net Friday against the Calgary Flames.

The Colorado Avalanche are currently 19-6-0 with 38 points, 3rd place in the Central Division. They will be on a three-game road trip starting Thursday in Edmonton, Friday in Calgary, and Sunday in Vancouver.
