Five Broncos earned the honor of being selected for the Pro Bowl. Peyton Manning, Matt Prater, Julius Thomas, Demaryius Thomas, and Louis Vasquez were chosen. It is the first pro bowl for Prater, Vasquez and Julius Thomas.

Manning received the most votes from NFL fans, which came as little surprise after the record setting season he’s had. Manning’s accomplishments this year include Sport’s Illustrated Sportsman of the Year and 51 touchdowns so far this season, the new NFL record. This will be Manning’s 13th Pro Bowl appearance, the second most in NFL History behind Bruce Matthews (14).

It is the second pro bowl selection for Demaryius Thomas. Thomas has scored 12 touchdowns this season, a career high. He has had 86 receptions which puts him in the top 10 for the NFL.

This will be Prater’s first time but it was a well deserved spot. Prater set the NFL record for his 64-yard field goal. He was one of two kickers chosen.

It is also the first Pro Bowl for Julius Thomas who burst onto the NFL scene. Thomas has had 12 touchdowns this season, including the 51st from Peyton Manning.

Another first timer is Louis Vasquez. Vasquez has not allowed any sacks this year. There is only 2 other starting guards to not allow any sacks this season.

Wide receiver Eric Decker, wide receiver Wes Welker, guard Zane Beadles, running back Knowshon Moreno, center Manny Ramirez, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, linebacker Von Miller and special-teams captain David Bruton were selected as alternates at varying levels.

Congratulations to these Broncos. Although it is an honor to be selected to play in the Pro Bowl, many Broncos fans are hoping they won’t see these five playing as they would be resting for the Superbowl the following week.
