According to Mike Chambers of The Denver Post, the Colorado Avalanche have activated forward Alex Tanguay Wednesday afternoon after sitting out since November 2nd with a knee injury. Tanguay suffered the injury against the Montreal Canadiens and would hit a speed bump in his return to the ice as he battled a hip injury during his recovery. This means forward Brad Malone will be reassigned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

In 13 games played this season, 34-year-old Tanguay would score 3 goals while adding 6 assists for 9 points earning a plus-eight rating. Their front-line will be healthy as forward P.A. Parenteau returned to action Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs after suffering a knee injury on December 29th and Paul Stastny returned after suffering a leg injury. It will take some time for all these guys to gel with one another but it’s good to have Tangs and Parenteau back in the mix along with Stastny.

The Colorado Avalanche (31-13-5, 67 points) will travel to Florida to take on the Florida Panthers on Friday night at the BB&T Center. Puck-Drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET, 5:30 PM MT.
