The Andre Miller saga in Denver is finally over as the team shipped the point guard to the Washington Wizards in a 3-team trade involving the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelpia 76ers get: PG Eric Maynor
Washington Wizards get: PG Andre Miller, two-second round picks.
Denver Nuggets get:PF Jan Vesely
As for the Nuggets obtaining Jan Vesely, the 6-11 power forward has been buried on the bench this season for the resurgent Wizards. He was drafted 6th overall back in the 2011 NBA Draft and hasn’t lived up to his potential. Vesely has appeared in 33 games this season, averaging 3.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game.
Andre Miller can resume playing now as he has held out of being in the Denver Nuggets lineup due to coach Brian Shaw benching him. The point guard was on paid absence as he refused to rejoin the Nuggets team. Miller will get the chance to back up All-Star point guard John Wall who is having a wonderful season for the young Wizards club.
As far as other trades go, Denver reportedly is now proceeding to trade Jordan Hamilton to the Houston Rockets exchange for point guard Aaron Brooks. Like Hamilton’s contract, Brooks is on his final-year as well.
The Nuggets were interested in Beno Udrih of the New York Knicks but the acquisition of Brooks makes more sense. Brooks is in his 5th year in the NBA and was a solid contributor for the Rockets this season. In 43 games, Brooks averaged 16.7 minutes collecting 7.0 points per game while shooting 40.9% percent from deep.
