As many of you know, Colorado Avalanche center Matt Duchene is up for the cover vote of EA Sports NHL 15. The voting started back on May 5th and the quarterfinals ends on May 18th. Make sure to vote on Twitter using the hashtag #NHL15Duchene.
Duchene is going head-to-head with St. Louis Blues winger T.J. Oshie in the quarterfinals. If we want to be fair about this, we go with the player who has the better stats, correct? Nevermind, that’s probably just my logic — after all it’s basically a popularity contest.
2013-14′ Season Stats:
Matt Duchene: 71 games – 23 goals, 47 assists, 70 points.
T.J. Oshie: 79 games – 21 goals 39 assists, 60 points.
As you can tell above, our boy Matt Duchene deserves the cover vote to surpass Oshie in the quarterfinals. Sure, Oshie will get a lot of votes due to the Winter Olympic Games where he scored shootout goals galore, but Matt Duchene was obviously the better player in 2013-14′ and throughout his career. Nothing against Mr. Oshie and his play but that’s the way I see it.
Career Stats:
Matt Duchene: 337 games – 105 goals, 158 assists, 263 points.
T.J. Oshie: 371 games – 91 goals, 164 assists, 255 points.
