After waiting out two rain delay’s Thursday afternoon, crew chief Bill Miller decided to suspend the Giants and Rockies game until September 1st through the 3rd, which is when the San Francisco Giants will be back in Denver for a three-game set.
San Francisco and Colorado were tied up a two in the sixth inning as Michael Cuddyer collected a two-out hit. The umpires, after sitting through a rain delay earlier in the game which lasted an hour and 22 minutes, decided to place the tarp back onto the field in the bottom half of the sixth inning.
When the game picks back up in September, Colorado will have a runner on first with two outs as the score is 2-2 in the bottom half of the sixth.
The rain delay spoiled what could have been a spectacular performance from Rockies ace Jorge De La Rosa. He was cruising through three innings where he kept the Giants hitless, walking one while striking out three. He and Giants starter Tim Hudson didn’t return to the game after sitting out for an hour and 22 minutes.
