The Colorado Rockies are losers of five-straight as they hope this homestand can turn the losing skid around. Colorado lost last night to the Arizona Diamondbacks in game one of a three-game set, 4-2. Despite the loss, Colorado received some exciting news as number two prospect Eddie Butler will make his first MLB start Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field.
Jordan Lyles looks to turn things around for the Rockies as he is looking for his first win in four starts. In his most recent outing against the Philadelphia Phillies, the righty gave up two runs over five innings as he received the no-decision. One problem with Lyles of late is his command as he has walked 15 batters in 20.1 innings pitched. Jordan is currently 5-1 on the season with an ERA of 3.46.
Josh Collmenter will get the nod for the D’Backs as he looks to help his team to a series victory. Collmenter faced the Rockies earlier this season back on the 30th of April, giving up four runs over seven innings while collecting 10 ground ball outs. Josh is coming off of a dominating start against the Cincinnati Reds where he pitched a complete game shutout, yielding just three hits over nine innings while striking out five.
The Rockies have finally placed left fielder Carlos Gonzalez on the disabled list as he continued to battle a swollen left index finger. Meanwhile, Colorado has called up catcher Mike McKenry and designated catcher Jordan Pacheco for assignment.
