The Colorado Rockies struggled in extra innings of last night’s 4-3 loss. The team lost on a sacrifice fly in the 16th inning off of the bat of Starlin Castro, scoring John Baker. The bats were silent, going just 2-for-21 (.095 BA) as they stuck out seven times. Tonight, they try to avoid a series loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Pitching Matchup:

COL: Brett Anderson (1-3, 3.24 ERA)
CHC: Travis Wood (7-9, 5.06 ERA)

Brett Anderson takes the hill as he tries to help the Colorado Rockies avoid a series loss. The southpaw has pitched like an All-Star his last two times out, giving up just one earned run over 13.1 innings, walking five and striking out nine. In his most recent start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Anderson gave up two hits over 6.1 innings, walking four and striking out one. He would pick up his first win in a Rockies uniform but left in the seventh due to a blister injury.

Travis Wood will look to continue the winnings ways of the Chicago Cubs, trying to earn them a series win. The southpaw picked up the no-decision in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals, giving up five runs (two earned) on seven hits, walking one and striking out five. Wood dealt with a pitch-count issue where he needed 113 pitched to get through just five innings.
