The Colorado Rockies are losers of two-straight as they enter tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers. The Rockies couldn’t figure out Tigers starter Justin Verlander last night as they dropped game one of a three-game set, 4-2. Tonight, they look to bounce back with a rookie on the mound.
Pitching Matchup:
COL: Tyler Matzek (2-5, 4.39 ERA)
DET: Rick Porcello (12-5, 3.24 ERA)
Tyler Matzek will take the mound Saturday night looking to snap the Rockies two-game skid. Matzek picked up his second win of his Major League career his last time out, pitching seven innings of scoreless ball as he gave up just three hits, walking two and striking out three. Matzek game out of the pen in the 16-inning marathon game against the Cubs, picking up the loss.
Rick Porcello will look to give his Detroit Tigers a series victory Saturday afternoon as he aims for his 13th win of the season. Porcello picked up the tough luck, no-decision his last time out against the Los Angeles Angels. He gave up one run (unearned) on five hits, walking zero while striking out six over seven strong innings. The Tigers went on to lose the game, 2-1.
