We enter week three of the 2014 NFL Preseason where the Denver Broncos will be taking on the Houston Texans after holding joint practices with them throughout the week. The practices got a little chippy as we heard the Broncos offensive line get in to it with the Texans defensive line, including J.J. Watt.

What: NFL Preseason Game 3: Texans vs. Broncos
When: Saturday, August 23rd.
Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High: Denver, Colorado.
Time: 9:00 PM ET, 7:00 PM MT.

The Broncos are coming off of an impressive beat-down of one of the better teams in the league, the San Francisco 49ers. They just opened up their brand new stadium (Levi’s Stadium) in Santa Clara and didn’t record a single point. Denver pushed the ball up and down the field on San Francisco, picking up a 34-0 win.

Denver lost a player who was in consideration for a roster spot — Jordan Norwood, who tore his left ACL in practice Wednesday afternoon during one of the joint practices. Norwood was attempting to catch a pass from Peyton Manning during an 11-on-11 drill as he quickly went to the ground by the sideline. Norwood’s injury opens up the competition for the fifth wide receiver spot and also kick returning opportunity for a player like Isaiah Burse.

A key matchup to keep an eye on right away is the Broncos o-line vs. Texans d-line. We already heard about the chippy play that went on during the joint practices but J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney present challenges on the edges. Clowney left practice early this week after colliding with Broncos tight-end Jacob Tamme so it will be interesting to see if Clowney sees much/any of the field.

More from Denver Broncos

All three of Denver’s quarterbacks fared pretty last week against San Francisco, each recording a touchdown pass.

Peyton Manning: 12/14, 102 yards, 1 touchdown. 120.8 QBR.
Brock Osweiler: 10/13, 105 yards, 1 touchdown. 125.5 QBR.
Zac Dysert: 8/11, 63 yards, 1 touchdown. 116.9 QBR.

We will see plenty of Brock Osweiler and Zac Dysert Saturday night to assess where they are at in their respective game.

Don’t forget, Broncos All-Pro linebacker Von Miller hopes to participate in Saturday night’s game. Miller has been out after undergoing surgery on a torn ACL back in January.
