In case you haven’t watched baseball in the last month or so, Corey Dickerson and Justin Morneau are pretty good, good enough to bring back a National League Batting Title to 20th and Blake. The Rockies have been a huge disappointment this season as we all know but these two will make the rest of the woeful season very interesting.

If you recall, Michael Cuddyer brought home the 2013 NL Batting Title for the Rockies last season, making that the eighth time in the Rockies history where a player from the team collected the award. (Andres Galarraga – 93′, Larry Walker – 98-99′, 01′, Todd Helton – 00′, Matt Holiday – 07′, Carlos Gonzalez – 11′, and Cuddy – 13′. This season, Dickerson or Morneau look to make that the ninth time and second-straight.

More from Colorado Rockies

Dickerson, 25, has yet to qualify for enough at-bats but is currently on pace to do so. Dickerson currently holds a three-game hit streak after Wednesday’s 9-2 win over the Giants where the left fielder went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs — raising his average to .311. That average of .311 would currently place Dickerson third in the National League behind Ben Revere (.314) and teammate Justin Morneau (.312).

Morneau, 33, on the other hand has made an immediate impact with the Rockies and as noted above, is currently second in the race. Generally, when people look at Rockies hitters, they immediately look at their home and road splits. For Morneau, this is clearly not an issue.

After Wednesday afternoon’s action, Morneau is hitting .300+ on the road and at home. He is currently slashing .308/.344/.489 on the road while hitting .311/.361/.476 at home. Not much of a difference in both of those lines.

If you’re a Rockies fan and haven’t been watching much, I advise you do to so the last month of the season due to those two guys. Hopefully we see one of them collect the award and bring a little light to a dreadful season.
