In case you were too busy prepping for the Denver Broncos regular season opener at Sports Authority Field Sunday night, you probably missed the fact that the Colorado Rockies swept the San Diego Padres, 6-0 at Coors Field.
Franklin Morales pitched one of his better games of the season Sunday afternoon, picking up his sixth win of the season. The southpaw has struggled throughout the season but pitched six scoreless innings of four-hit ball, walking two and striking out six as the bullpen sealed the deal for him.
One the offensive side of the ball, Jackson Williams hit his first Major League home run, a three-run shot to left to give the Rockies an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. Five innings later, third baseman Nolan Arenado would club a two-run shot of his own, plating Rafael Ynoa to extend the lead to five.

In the bottom half of the eighth inning, Charlie Blackmon would triple to right field, scoring pinch-hitter Wilin Rosario who doubled in his at-bat. Colorado would take the 6-0 lead at that point which would result in the final score.
The bullpen didn’t explode as usual today, which was good. Brooks Brown, Adam Ottavino, and Christian Friedrich combined for three scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four.
The Colorado Rockies (59-84) take on the New York Mets at Citi Field Monday night as they begin a three-game set.
