Colorado Rockies: Farewell Tulsa Drillers, Colorado Springs Sky Sox
By Andrew Dill
Security Service Field, Colorado Springs.
According to Colorado Rockies MLB.com reporter Thomas Harding, the Colorado Rockies are saying farewell to their Triple-A and Double-A affiliates, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Tulsa Drillers.
Colorado Springs has been a fixture in the Rockies organization for quite some time, 22-years to be exact. It’s sad to see the partnership ending with a club that is just a little more than an hour for Denver, convenient for prospects to get the call. Now, the Rockies will be shifting gears to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where their Triple-A franchise will now be called the Albuquerque Isotopes.

As far as their Double-A affiliate goes, the Tulsa Drillers will now be affiliated with the division rival, Los Angeles Dodgers. Colorado will be taking over the Minnesota Twins Double-A franchise up in New Britain, Connecticut. The Twins have reportedly reached an agreement to move to Chattanooga.
An interesting fact from Harding is that this isn’t the first time a Rockies farm team has been located in Connecticut.
"It’s not the first time the Rockies have been affiliated with a Connecticut team at Double-A. New Haven was the team’s farm club from 1994-98."
Also, Harding notes that the Rockies brass likes the idea of the stadium in Albuquerque, where they played exhibitions at prior to the 2005-06′ seasons.
