The Colorado Buffaloes collected their second win of the 2014 campaign Saturday afternoon, defeating the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, 21-12. What’s more impressive about Colorado’s victory, is that they didn’t allow Hawaii to record a touchdown.

Hawaii was the first to get points on the scoreboard, finishing a seven-play drive with a 35-yard field goal from Tyler Hadden. The Buffaloes would strike back as Sefo Liufau hit Nelson Spruce on a 71-yard touchdown pass, giving the Buffs a 7-3 lead with 2:46 remaining in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Buffs held up their end on the defensive side of the ball, making Hawaii settle for another field goal as Tyler Hadden hit a 25-yarder to bring the game to within one. Less than three minutes later, Buffs wide receiver Shay Fields recorded a rushing touchdown, covering 13-yards for the score to put Colorado up 14-6.

After forcing Hawaii to punt, Colorado capitalized on their ensuing possession. Sefo Liufau would connect with freshman fullback George Frazier on a 9-yard pass, pushing Colorado’s lead to a commanding 21-6.

During the second half, Colorado’s offense went missing but the defense would continue to hold up their own. The Buffs defense would hold Hawaii to, two second half field goals from Tyler Hadden which would knock the score down to 21-12. Colorado would hold on to the 21-12 victory, giving the team their second victory of 2014.

To add on to a dominating defensive performance, Buffs sophomore defensive back Tedric Thompson would record an interception which he returned for seven yards.

Colorado (2-2) will hit the road and take on the California Golden Bears next Saturday. Kickoff is schedule for 4:00 PM EST, 2:00 PM MST at Memorial Stadium (Berkley, California).
