The Denver Broncos held their own throughout the game, which is something that didn’t happen last February. The Seattle Seahawks came away with a 26-20 overtime victory where Russell Wilson stole the show, keeping the ball out of the hands of Peyton Manning and company.

Speaking of Peyton Manning, what a drive he led with under a minute to go in the ballgame. Denver trailed 17-3 heading into the fourth quarter, which ultimately looked like another sour loss. This time however, the team rallied around their defense, which just came up short towards the end.

With the Broncos down 20-12 with 59 seconds in the fourth, Manning led a 6-play, 80 yard drive which was capped off by a Jacob Tamme touchdown reception as Denver had to go for two. Manning would then connect with Demaryius Thomas in the back of the end zone, who just got both feet down.

Russell Wilson would lead a 13-play, 80 yard drive in overtime to keep the ball out of Peyton Manning’s hands. Wilson had Denver’s defense fooled. As soon as the edge-rushers got close, Wilson would scramble to the outside picking up multiple yards. To seal the win, Marshawn Lynch recorded a six-yard rush to improve Seattle’s record to 2-1 as Denver falls to 2-1.

Denver and Seattle traded field goals in the first quarter, resulting in a 3-3 tie after one. It was all Seattle in the second however. Ricardo Lockette would haul in a 39-yard pass from Russell Wilson to give the Seahawks a 10-3 lead. Less than three minutes later, Marshawn Lynch would record a touchdown reception from Wilson to go up 17-3 at the half.

Denver’s defense came up big throughout most of the game, collecting a safety as they stuffed Marshawn Lynch in the backfield with 13:07 to go in the third. Denver would capitalize on that as well. Peyton Manning would pitch a shovel pass to Julius Thomas for three yards, bringing the Broncos within five, 17-2.

Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka would put Seattle on the board with less than a minute to go in the fourth, capping a 5-play, 25 yard drive with a 28-yard field goal to go up 20-12.

Emmanuel Sanders had a big day on the gridiron. The former Pittsburgh Steeler collected 11 receptions, resulting in 149 yards. He was targeted 15 times by Peyton Manning, recording an average of 13.5 yards per catch.

The Denver Broncos (2-1) fall to the Seattle Seahawks, 26-20. Denver will not be in action next week as they have a bye-week, but resume play on Sunday, October 5th as they take on the Arizona Cardinals at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 PM EST, 2:05 PM MST.
