The disaster filled season of the Colorado Rockies comes to a close Sunday afternoon as the team finishes up a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers. On the bright side, sitting at a record of 66-95, the Rockies have locked up the third overall pick in next year’s MLB Entry Draft.

Pitching Matchup:

Throughout an injury prone season to key players such as Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez, Jhoulys Chacin, Nolan Arenado, Michael Cuddyer, Tyler Chatwood — the list goes on. A player who has stuck out from the crowd is outfielder Corey Dickerson.

More from Colorado Rockies

Dickerson, 25, will miss the Rockies last game as the native of McComb, Mississippi is awaiting the birth of his first child. Let’s just say, he was the Most Valuable Player for the Rockies during the 2014 campaign. Corey hit at a solid line of .312/.364/.567 with 27 doubles, 6 triples, 24 home runs, and RBI’s. Corey didn’t have enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title but his teammate is on the verge of clinching it.

Justin Morneau looks to wrap up the 2014 National League Batting Title Sunday afternoon where he sits at an average of .319. The Rockies sat the former MVP Saturday night, giving the slugger a day off — probably to preserve his average. Morneau currently sits one point ahead of Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison in the race so we will find out prior to Sunday’s game if Morneau will play.

First-pitch between the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers is scheduled for 4:10 PM EST, 2:10 MST.
