According to Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post, Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson will miss Denver’s preseason game Tuesday night against the Portland Trailblazers in Boulder. Oh brother, here we go again. As if the Nuggets haven’t already dealt with the injury bug the past two seasons, hopefully Lawson’s sore hamstring is just a minor setback.
Lawson, 26, played in 62 games last season, sitting out with a lingering ankle injury. Lawson missed Denver’s last six regular season games and was listed as out until July. Denver can’t afford to be without their point guard who averaged a career-high 17.6 points to go along with 8.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds last season.

Seems to me like it’s just precautionary for Lawson, seeing Brian Shaw doesn’t want to wear down his point guard in the meaningless preseason.
On a brighter note, JaVale McGee might make his preseason debut this week after playing in just five regular season games last season. McGee said he’s itching to get back onto the court after fracturing his left tibia. Denver has been pleased with the play from rookie center Jusuf Nurkic who appears to be a human vacuum — hauling down rebound after rebound.
Denver has just two preseason games remaining; Tuesday night vs. Portland in Boulder, Colorado, and Friday night vs. Golden State in Oakland, California.
