The Colorado Avalanche will return to full strength in terms of goaltending by Friday night which is great news. After suffering a neck injury early in the game Oct. 16th against the Ottawa Senators, Reto Berra will return to the Avs’ lineup and start in net against the Florida Panthers Tuesday night.

More from Colorado Avalanche

Colorado recently had two AHL goaltenders on the active roster in Calvin Pickard and Sami Aittokallio. Pickard made two appearances and one start this past weekend, going 0-2-0 with a goals against average of 3.66. In his only start, Pickard stopped 33-of-36 shots from the Montreal Canadiens.

More good news for the Avs’ is that number one goaltender Semyon Varlamov is expected to make his return Friday night at home against the Vancouver Canucks. Varlamov last played Oct. 14th against the Toronto Maple Leafs where he stopped 37-of-40 shots in an overtime loss.

The goaltending hasn’t been an issue with this team thus far even though the record sits at 1-4-1, it’s been the work ethic. Colorado tries to get too fancy with the puck in the zone and turnovers have created good chances for the opposing team. We will see if Colorado can clean it up tonight against Florida and get some momentum moving forward.

Don’t forget, the Colorado Avalanche are in action tonight against the Florida Panthers at home, with puck-drop set to begin at 9:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM MST.
