We are nine games into the regular season for the Colorado Avalanche and the record isn’t quite where we expected or what they want for that matter. Sitting at (2-4-3, 7 points) towards the bottom of the Western Conference, Colorado has some questions they need to answer — specifically the blue-line.
In Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 loss in overtime, Colorado failed to clear the puck out of their own zone as Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little made them pay with less than thirty seconds remaining in the period. Not only did losing in overtime suck, Erik Johnson left the game early in the third period after his head slammed against the wall. According to the team, Johnson will play against San Jose.
Colorado notched just one goal Sunday afternoon, coming from forward Jamie McGinn who converted on the power-play which tied the game up at one apiece at the time. McGinn is in a four-way tie for the team’s lead in goals scored, consisting of Matt Duchene, Alex Tanguay, and Gabriel Landeskog.

One player who you haven’t heard much about recently is forward Nathan MacKinnon — reigning Rookie of the Year. It appears MacKinnon is going through what you call a sophomore slump. Nate has yet to record his first goal of the 2014-15′ campaign but has managed to collect four assists.
Colorado will be taking on a San Jose Sharks team Tuesday night that is coming off a 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on the road. Logan Couture notched two assists in the victory while centerman Joe Pavelski earned his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Puck-drop between the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM MST and will be televised on Altitude Sports.
