NHL Preview – Game 14: Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche resume action tonight as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at home. Colorado is coming off a 3-2 loss to Anaheim as their six-game point streak was snapped Sunday night.

These two teams faced off back on Oct. 24th at the Pepsi Center where Colorado took the Canucks by storm, 7-3. Matt Duchene earned the first star honors as the centerman recorded a goal and two assists. Jarome Iginla and Tyson Barrie recorded the second and third stars of the game respectively, combining for two goals and four assists.

In Colorado’s most recent game against the Anaheim Ducks (loss 2-3), Dennis Everberg recorded his first NHL goal and was named the third star of the game. Everberg scored the goal just 2:18 minutes into the game as John Mitchell picked up the helper. Nathan MacKinnon recorded the other goal for Colorado.

Speaking of MacKinnon, the kid has been on fire of late. In Colorado’s last three games, Nate has scored four goals with one assist – 5 points. MacKinnon will put his three-game point streak on the line tonight against Vancouver.

There have been some lineup changes yet again. Patrick Roy said Matt Duchene will center a line consisting of Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog while Ryan O’Reilly will center Jarome Iginla and Jamie McGinn.

Vancouver on the other hand is coming off a loss to the Nashville Predators, 3-1. Alexander Edler recorded on the lone goal on the power-play; his second of the season. Henrik Sedin leads the team in points (13) and asissts (9) while Radim Vrbata is the leader in goals with 5.
