The Colorado Avalanche play in the second-end of a back-to-back tonight as they stay on the road and take on the Winnipeg Jets. Colorado is coming off a heartbreaking 4-3 loss via overtime to the Calgary Flames Thursday night. Sean Monahan played hero as he scored his 10th goal of the season to lift the upstart Flames over the Avs at the Saddledome. Tonight the Avalanche look to split their two-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets.

These two teams have already met once this season, an overtime affair in which the Winnipeg Jets came out victorious back on Oct. 26th. Bryan Little scored the game-winner with less than thirty-seconds remaining in overtime as the Avs’ defense was lost on the play. Jamie McGinn scored Colorado’s lone goal of the game in a 2-1 loss.

Matt Duchene and Alex Tanguay each collected their ninth goal of the season in last night’s overtime loss to Calgary. Nick Holden was moved from defense to a fourth-line forward and we saw a much better result. Holden scored a second period goal, recording his second goal of the season with Zach Redmond and Michael Sgarbossa picking up the assists.

The Jets are playing pretty well thus far, sitting at a record of (13-9-4, 30 points) in the Central Division. They are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday night. Jacob Trouba notched the second-star honors, recording a goal and two helpers to help lift the Jets over the woeful Oilers. Trouba’s second assist of the night was to Mathieu Perreault, scoring the game-winning goal just 17 seconds into the overtime period.
