Denver Nuggets: And You Thought Last Season Was Bad?

Oh boy, here we go. The Denver Nuggets enter Friday night’s play against the Boston Celtics with a disappointing record of 18-24. Denver is six games under .500 with nearly a healthy roster, yet the team is performing like they did a year ago. The energy or focus for that matter is simply not there, which brings me to the case of Ty Lawson and his recent arrest.

Lawson, 27, was reportedly arrested this morning after going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, this coming from 9News. Lawson was arrested around 1:19 a.m. this morning. This coming after Denver hosted a Nuggets Social at Punch Bowl Social, which ended around 10:00 p.m. So it seems as if Ty partied a little too hardy. Oh, and it was the night before a game. Awesome, right?

The Nuggets also issued a statement this morning, noting that they were aware of Ty’s incident. This coming from Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post.

This incident just adds on to the mess which is the Denver Nuggets. The teams direction is blurry, hazy if you will. The Nuggets do have a deep team, yes, but the problem is they have too many role players with no go-to-guy. Tough to win ball games consistently that way, unless your head coach’s name is George Karl.

Denver’s general manager Tim Connelly has some decisions to make with his roster prior to the NBA Trade Deadline. His team is currently on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year. But Lawson’s DUI arrest is just another shot to the heart in a franchise whose direction seems unclear.
