The Denver Nuggets will try to snap their 6-game losing streak on Wednesday night as they travel to the Target Center in Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Denver Nuggets are mired in one of their worst skids of the season (but not quite as bad as an 8-game losing streak they suffered last month). The last time the Denver Nuggets played the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Wolves had lost 5 of 6 games as the Nuggets took care of business at the Target Center 112-100 on December 16.

Randy Foye led the way for the Denver Nuggets in scoring back in December with 19 points on 7-9 shooting in 25 minutes off the bench. Kenneth Faried also played well last time for the Denver Nuggets in Minnesota, recording a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal.

During the Nuggets current 6-game losing streak, they have lost to the Spurs, Thunder, Cavaliers, Warriors, and the Portland Trail Blazers twice. This portion of their schedule was brutal, but against a scuffling Timberwolves team that has lost 7 out of their last 10 games, the Denver Nuggets have a good shot at getting back into the win column against their Northwest Division rivals.

In their last game, the Denver Nuggets fell at the Pepsi Center to the Portland Trail Blazers 112-106. Kenneth Faried made an unlikely return to the starting lineup only 1 day after apparently suffering a serious neck injury Saturday night at Golden State. Danilo Gallinari led the way for the Denver Nuggets with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Jameer Nelson also added 17 points as the starting point guard.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off of a loss to the NBA worst Philadelphia 76ers, bringing their current losing streak to 3 games. Similarly to the Denver Nuggets, the Wolves are struggling as of late. Andrew Wiggins is leading Minnesota in scoring with a little over 20 points per game, while rookie Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging nearly a double-double per game at 15.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.

In what is some good news for the Denver Nuggets, rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is expected to make his return to the Denver lineup on Wednesday in Minnesota after missing the last 11 games due to an ankle injury. Mudiay practiced on Tuesday, and seems that he has recovered well after missing nearly a month due to injury.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ center Nikola Pekovic is also expected to make his season debut on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets. Head Coach Sam Mitchell said that there is a “50-50” chance the Pekovic will play against the Nuggets at the Target Center tonight. Pekovic is recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in March of 2015. He has not played since then.

This is a tough stretch for the Denver Nuggets, but with the expected return of Emmanuel Mudiay, and a team now almost at full strength against a scuffling team in Minnesota, Wednesday’s game at the Target Center is as good a chance as any to snap this 6-game losing streak and get back into the win column.
