Gerardo Parra Batting Fifth

With the Colorado Rockies recently dealing Corey Dickerson, Gerardo Parra looks like the obvious favorite to hit behind Arenado in the batting order. The Colorado Rockies recently signed Parra to a three-year deal, which created an outfield logjam, but now that Dickerson is gone, Parra assumes the starting right field job for the Colorado Rockies.

Gerardo Parra splashed onto the scene last year with the Milwaukee Brewers, posting stellar first-half stats. With the Baltimore Orioles in the playoff hunt, they dealt for the veteran outfielder at the trade deadline; however, Parra’s stats trended downward following the move to Baltimore. While with the Brewers, over 100 games, Parra owned a .328/.369/.517 slash line, but with Baltimore, he registered a .237/.268/.357 slash line in 55 games.

With the Colorado Rockies signing Gerardo Parra, his counting stats should see a positive increase, especially with calling Coors Field his home for 81 games in 2016. Lock Parra into the number five spot in the Colorado Rockies’ batting order, because no one on the roster provides as much stability hitting fifth in the order.

To date, Gerardo Parra averages nine home runs, 51 RBI, and a .277 batting average over 162 games in his seven-year career. Expect to see similar numbers in 2016, with the potential of Parra hitting 15 home runs and batting close to .300.
