DJ LeMahieu to Hit Seventh Next Season

In 2015, DJ LeMahieu started off the season on fire; owning a .400 batting average over the first month. However, over the second half of the season, he clung on to his hot start, and he managed to hit over .300 for the first time in his career. Let this be known, LeMahieu is not the type of hitter he portrayed in 2015 for the Colorado Rockies.

Next season, we can expect DJ LeMahieu to regress in most offensive statistical categories, but he should provide a solid bat at the back-end of the Colorado Rockies’ batting order. Due to LeMahieu’s hot start, he was able to ride the wave into the All-Star game, but his second half numbers paint a clearer picture on what to expect in 2016.

Outside of the first month in 2015, DJ LeMahieu owned a .285/.343/.366 slash line, but he managed to steal 22 bags after April. With the ability to take the extra base, LeMahieu offers some upside by hitting in the lower half of the order for the Colorado Rockies. For the most part, LeMahieu is known as a glove-first second baseman, so any offensive production the Colorado Rockies receive from LeMahieu is a plus.

With Reyes and Blackmon securing the top two spots in the batting order, there is no other place for DJ LeMahieu to hit besides in the bottom-third. The Colorado Rockies have a solid lineup, so hitting seventh for the club is no slight for LeMahieu. LeMahieu figures to be a guy who hits around .270 and provides minimal power with sneaking baserunning skills.
