Peyton Manning’s retirement party was meant to be a quiet affair. Lucky for us, a bunch of famous people couldn’t help themselves from posting photos on Twitter and Instagram.

When you think of a Peyton Manning retirement send-off, what comes to mind?

No, it wasn’t a big chicken parm sandwich at the Papa John’s in downtown Omaha. Despite his public persona, Peyton knows how to do it up in style.

Or at least his wife does, as rumor has it Ashley Manning was in charge of putting the whole thing together for her husband.

The former Colts and Broncos QB celebrated his 18 seasons in the NFL and 2 Lombardi trophies at the luxury Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills on Monday night.

Few mentions of The Sheriff’s private affair leaked onto social media beforehand. However, the big party was apparently well stocked with cell phone wielding celebrities and former teammates who documented enough to give us a peek inside.

The Indianapolis Star has a collection of Instagram posts from the event, including pics of folks like Von Miller, Marvin Harrison, Jim Kelly, Marshall Faulk, LaDanian Tomlinson, and singer Justin Timberlake.

Manning was already in Los Angeles this week for the ESPY awards.

They air tonight on ABC and apparently Peyton will be getting shared recognition via something called the Icon Award.

It appears to be something they’ve cooked up for retiring superstars.  Manning, Kobe Bryant and Abby Wambach will all be presented with the honor by Justin Timberlake.

I guess this is what life is like when you go out on top.
