It appears that Denver Broncos fans can breathe a big sigh of relief tonight.  The dominant Defense that carried the team to victory will remain dominant.

Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and the world champion Denver Broncos are reported to have agreed on a contract extension that will keep Denver’s biggest defensive weapon on the field for the 2016 season.  And well into the future!

Reports are that the superstar middle linebacker will reel in $70 million in guaranteed money, and that cash will be heavily front-loaded.

The overall six-year, $114.5 million contract will make Miller the highest paid Denver Bronco in franchise history and represents the largest guaranteed money ever paid to a non-quarterback in the NFL.  In other words, it’s a big freakin’ deal!

The only other NFL player to ever bank more guaranteed money in a contract is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

This expected agreement, assuming nothing crazy goes wrong when the parties meet up in the morning, will conclude months of uncertainty for the team.

One of the main sticking points in getting an extension done was Miller’s bruised ego.

He made it clear that John Elway’s “take it or leave it” negotiation style had rubbed him the wrong way and he clearly resented that the team leaked details of their offers to the media.

The stalemate left some wondering if the Broncos would try to engineer a last-minute trade if they couldn’t get ink to paper, rather than allow Miller to sit out the season.

That’s because he had already made it crystal clear he wouldn’t play under the franchise tag.

None of the parties involved have officially commented yet, though Miller did post a very nice picture of himself with Peyton Manning and JJ Watt on Instagram.

In the pic, Von is smiling broadly and flashing his newly acquired Super Bowl ring to the camera.  The image racked up more than 20,000 likes within a few minutes.

Many of those who took the time to post comments congratulated Miller on his monster payday.
