Preliminary auditions to be a part of the 2016-2017 Denver Nuggets Dancers will be held on the evening of July 15 at the Pepsi Center.
According to the Nuggets Dancers website, these auditions are a “great opportunity to get paid for doing what you love while making lifelong friends!”
Any dancers who make it past the preliminary round of auditions tomorrow night will have a week-long series of photo shoots and dance rehearsals ahead of them.
Then, the new squad will be selected following a final showcase and audition on Saturday, July 23.
One requirement for any prospective Nuggets Dancer is that they must “be at least 18 years of age (by October 1, 2016) or 17 years of age with a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver on the participant’s behalf.”
Did you realize some of those girls were only 17?
Yeah, me neither.
Other must-haves for anyone looking to audition are a high school diploma or equivalent education and shoes with non-marking soles.
Being a Nuggets Dancer isn’t a full-time gig, but the girls are paid an undisclosed hourly wage. During the regular season there is a roughly 20-hour per week time commitment.
Oh yeah, don’t show up to the auditions hungry. They definitely won’t be feeding you.
The Nuggets site reminds potential candidates: “The audition process is strenuous! Bring plenty of water and snacks to help you through each day. Dancers will not be allowed to leave the premises for food once the auditions begin.”
To be honest, the dance squad’s enthusiasm has been the only bright spot of far too many Nuggets games in the last couple of years. Let’s all hope the team makes these girls’ jobs a little easier by generating some more excitement on the court this season.
