The Denver Broncos have no interest in signing quarterback Nick Foles, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

When the Los Angeles Rams cut Nick Foles on Wednesday, some thought Denver might make a good landing spot.

Sean Wagner-McGough of CBS Sports ranked all 32 teams as possibilities for picking up Foles. He put the Broncos near the top, in fourth place, with the comment: “Put Foles in that competition, and I’m betting he wins the job.”

Apparently, he’s not getting the chance.

“I think we go to work with our guys,” Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said in a radio interview today on 104.3 The Fan. “Obviously I got respect for Nick, he’s played very well in this league. But we’ve been set, we know which direction we’re heading and it’s time to go compete.”

The Broncos will start training camp today with three quarterbacks on the roster and in competition for the starting job.

The future of the team is undoubtedly rookie QB Paxton Lynch, plucked out of Memphis in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft.

Broncos fans have high hopes for Lynch, but the early indications were that he’ll take some time to develop. Meanwhile, the veterans on the roster are Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian.

You’d assume Sanchez has the inside track on the starting job because of his years of experience as an NFL starter, but there has been a lot of buzz about Siemian.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, in an appearance on SiriusXM, told listeners: “The Trevor Siemian talk and chatter is real. He has a legitimate chance to win the job… the competition is real.”

Siemian was signed last year out of Northwestern, where he racked up 27 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in four seasons.  He knows the playbook, but his only experience “playing” in the NFL is a single kneel-down.

In Philadelphia last season, Sanchez started 2 games — both losses — and threw for 616 yards, 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. The Eagles dumped him in the spring, taking a conditional seventh-round pick in trade.
