Peyton Manning stars in new ‘Peyton on Sunday Mornings’ commercials
If you’ve missed seeing Peyton Manning on TV every Sunday, don’t worry. He’ll still be there during the commercial breaks.
Manning is starring in a new series of comedic TV ads to promote DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket package. At least he’s not still professing his love for “chicken parm” sandwiches, right?
Each spot in the new series is kicked off by Lionel Richie, who sings a little “It’s Peyton on Sunday Mornings” introduction in a familiar tune.
Spot #1: Making a Phone Call
In the first ad, Peyton calls his brother Eli to see if he wants to come over and watch a game on Sunday morning. Eli must remind his big bro that he’s still playing in the league…
Spot #2: A Walk in the Park
The second ad in the series has Peyton sitting on a park bench next to an old man, who advises him to work as long as you can because retirement is all about staring off into space…
Spot #3: At the Grocery Store
In the third spot of the series, Peyton heads out to the grocery store (in his bathrobe) and tries to educate the cashier about watching NFL games on mobile devices. He then fishes a balled-up coupon out of his pocket…
The ads are funny, but quite tame compared to some of the past years’ DirecTV-Manning collaborations.
I mean, who can forget classics like “Football Cops” from 2011 — or the equally insane “Football on Your Phone” rap video that the brothers made in 2013?
