Good and bad news for the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday as they lost a star player, but won a key game that helps keep them in playoff contention.
The Bad: Trevor Story Out for Regular Season
Rockies shortstop Trevor Story announced Tuesday he will undergo surgery on a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb and is likely to miss the remainder the regular season.
“I just feel terrible that I won’t be able to play every day,” Story said. “I feel like I mean a lot to the team. To not be out there, that hurts.”
The Good: Rockies Top Dodgers, Back to .500
On the other hand — no pun intended — Carlos Gonzalez pounded home 4 runs and the Rox topped the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3 at home in Denver. With a 53-53 record, the team is still in the hunt for a wild card spot, currently only 3.5 games back.
