The Colorado Rockies dropped their 71st game on the season after falling 8-5 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. This came after the Rockies held the lead 2-1 entering the seventh inning. After a single that drove in a run tying the game, Socrates Brito hit a three run home run on a pitch from Jon Gray. The Rockies managed one run in the bottom of the seventh bringing the score to 5-3.

The Diamondbacks added two more runs in the top of the eight and another in the top of the ninth. That left the Rockies with only the bottom of the ninth to score five runs to tie the game. Cristhian Adams doubled, then was later driven home by a Nick Hundley single. After a couple of other hits and a wild pitch, Hundley cross home to give the Rockies their second score of the inning, and final score of the game.

Rockies pitcher Jon Gray got the loss bringing his record to 9-7 on the season.

The Rockies are sitting at third in their division and 11 games behind in their division and 6.5 games behind in the wild card race. There is still time for them to make up those games and end up with a playoff spot, but they are a longshot.

Their next game is on September 5th against the San Francisco Giants and have a three game series with them. To help their odds the Rockies will need to win all three games to cut into the Giants lead for a wild card spot.
