Outside Linebackers Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett

When playing Andrew Luck, putting pressure on him doesn’t take him off of his game. Somehow, it seems like he just gets better. What defenses have to do is hit him, do it quickly and make sure they are taking him down. They can’t let him break away.

Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett will be tasked, mostly, with having that responsibility. If they put pressure on Luck and don’t take him down, or let him escape, odds are he likely burns the Broncos defense, either with his arm or legs.

They will be vital to the success of the defense, in more ways than just the pressure they put on Luck. In addition to putting pressure, they have to make sure they help keep him contained. When he gets out of the pocket, Luck is even more dangerous.

More from Mile High Maniac

There is one major issue that Luck presents for opposing defenses, it is nearly impossible to limit what he can do when he is healthy. If you take away the run game, Luck can still have that Colts offense moving through the passing game, or his own legs. This makes these linebackers jobs even harder than normal.

All four of them are going to have to do their part to take away the run game. In doing so, it gives the secondary an easier time as they can focus on the passing game. But as said, the passing game will still be dangerous. That is what happens when you have a quarterback of Luck’s caliber.

With how difficult it if for defenses to defend opposing offenses, these four can still help the defense if they play outstanding games. It is a hard, nearly impossible task for these linebackers, but they have the talent among the four of them to get it done.
